ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP AWARD PROGRAM
The Scholarship Award Program, jointly sponsored by the Employer and Union Trustees of the United Food & Commercial Workers Unions and Food Employers Benefit Fund, is one of the best offered to union workers anywhere. The Program is designed to recognize Participants and their eligible dependent children who represent outstanding academic, technical or vocational potential or achievement, dedicated community service and a high degree of personal accomplishment.
The Scholarship Award Program can help you earn a degree, certification or license and find new opportunities for prosperity and success. The Scholarship award will cover tuition for undergraduate college degrees or post-high school technical or vocational training.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
If you are the Participant (employee)
- you must have completed one Year of Service as of November 2024
- you are still actively employed in Covered Service* when the Awards are determined
- you are a full time undergraduate student in Fall 2025
If you are a dependent child of the Participant
- the Participant must have completed at least three Years of Service as of November 2024
- the Participant is still actively employed in Covered Service* when the Awards are determined
- you are less than 24 years of age
- you are unmarried
- you are a full time undergraduate student in Fall 2025

- $2,500
- $5,000
- $10,000
The deadline for Scholarship Award applications is extended to February 28, 2025.
Late applications, incomplete applications and those missing required documentation will not be accepted.
THE TUITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
For those who may be able to attend school only part-time, or who may not qualify for a Scholarship Award, the Fund offers the Tuition Assistance Program. Information about this program is also included in the Summary Plan Description.

*Covered Service – Employment covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement or employment by the Union, UFCW Region 8 States Council, Southern California United Food & Commercial Workers Unions and Food Employers Joint Benefit Funds Administration, LLC, when such entities are bound by an agreement to participate in this Fund.
